¡OYE! Together!: Art, Community, Healing and Cultura. ¡Oye! Group is an Obie Award-winning multi-disciplinary arts organization with a foundatio¡OYE! Together: An evening of art, community, and cultura! Join Obie award-winning ¡Oye! Group on Thursday, May 23 from 6-9pm at the Wooster Group’s Performing Garage for our biggest benefit party ever. We are coming together to celebrate the transformative art and community-building work that we began in Bushwick nearly a decade ago and have since expanded to stages and communities across the country.
We are proud to be a Black and Latine-owned and operated nonprofit whose work has been chosen as a New York Times Critic Pick and featured on some of the most prominent Off-Broadway stages in NYC, including the Public Theater, New York Theatre Workshop, The Bushwick Starr, Abrons Art Center, JACK, and The Tank. With ¡OYE! Together, we aim to raise $25,000 to strengthen our ability to present innovative, impactful artistic works and community programs that spark conversation, connection, and healing.
¡Oye! Group is unwavering in our commitment to providing education, resources, and programming that enrich Black and Latine communities. We provide dozens of arts education workshops annually for everyone from youth to seniors and incarcerated folks, and collaborate with emerging artists to develop and produce genre-bending art that addresses political and social issues that are critical to our communities. Our annual festivals empower emerging artists by showcasing their work while also providing space for community-building through the sharing of art, food, and resources. Just this year, we provided free clothes, backpacks, school supplies, and arts workshops to 1000+ local families. This work is not possible without your support!
Join us for an unforgettable evening at the historic Performing Garage filled with fantastic art and music, dynamic company, a no-host bar, and our legendarily delicious ghetto hors d'oeuvres. Infusing the streets and the stage, ¡OYE! Together will include performances by poets and musicians from our past and present productions, a block party vibe, and plenty of time to talk, play, eat, drink, laugh, and celebrate our many incredible years of forward-thinking art, dialogue and community building.
